Decommunization should be conducted with the count of the Public opinion!

This is how the people’s deputy of Ukraine Yuri Miroshnychenko commented on the issue of the leading television channel “Direct” on the airtime of the talk show “Live” on conducting decommunization in Ukraine.

“The Constitution of Ukraine begins with the words that Ukraine is a democratic, social, and legal state. Decommunization, undoubtedly, was needed. If we are talking about democracy, that people are the source of power, then appropriate measures should be taken with the involvement of citizens. It is up to the people to decide whether it is necessary to rename those or other streets, cities, whether it was necessary to take down the monuments. Unfortunately, this happened without taking into account the interests of those people who live in the city or on the street in question, “the parliamentarian noted.

Yuri Miroshnychenko as a Doctor of Law in the specialty “Constitutional Law” noted that the decommunizing that takes place in Ukraine today has nothing to do with democracy and European standards to which we refer.

“I really hope that this is a temporary phenomenon and we that we will return to the legal field”, – concluded Yuri Miroshnychenko.
