The Central Election Commission Member Yurii Miroshnychenko held the expert discussion on electoral issues of citizens on November 25. The discussion was focused on the amendment concepts to the local elections legislation – draft bill of the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to Several Laws of Ukraine on Residence Registration of Internally Displaced Persons”. The Ministry of Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine developed the project.
The meeting issues touched upon residence registration of internally displaced persons in host communities, integration between registers of territorial communities and voter registers, process digitization, declarative residence and electronic elections conductions.
“Today and now we can solve the problem, at first for internally displaced persons and then for all categories of citizens – this is the beginning. Experts and all stakeholders have gathered here to move on”, – Yuriі Miroshnychenko stressed.
The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries, a representative from the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Deputy Director of the State Migration Service of Ukraine, an analyst of the Analytical Center of the Association of Cities of Ukraine, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) in Ukraine, the All-Ukrainian public organization “Civil Network “OPORA” (eng. Reliance), public organization «Public holding «GRUPA VPLYVU» (eng. Impact Group), Human rights center ZMINA (eng. Change), as well as the CEC representatives.
It should become a good tradition to conduct such measures in order to discuss legislative initiatives and find the best possible solutions with the involvement of the CEC representatives, line ministries and organizations, to achieve the ultimate goal – to protect electoral rights of Ukrainian citizens at all stages of elections.
