The Сonstitution stipulates that it is not possible to hold elections during a military state in the country

People’s Deputy of Ukraine Yuriy Miroshnychenko commented in the morning of the TV channel “News One”, in which he stated that there are no grounds for cancellation of elections by the end of December.

“If we proceed from the requirements of the Constitution, during the military state, elections are prohibited. This applies to any election: local, presidential, parliamentary. Perhaps the President wants to cancel the military state before his official termination? I do not want to question the President’s words, but I would like to hear explanations of his words “, – said Yuri Miroshnychenko.

The parliamentarian stressed that he and all members of the opposition platform “For Life” agree with the idea that there were no sufficient grounds for the introduction of the military state.

“Over the past years, we have repeatedly heard that on the border with Ukraine, the accumulation of military forces. They talked about the need to build walls, obstacles and similar things. But what changed the situation so much that it was necessary to introduce a military state? ”

Let’s remind that initially the President proposed to introduce a military state throughout the country for two months, but the Constitution of Ukraine clearly states that during the martial law of the country elections can not be held.

“At the moment, as a lawyer and as a parliamentarian, I do not see the possibility of holding elections during a military state,” Yuriy Miroshnychenko emphasized.
